When President Alan Burgess first started at Align Precision (formerly ARCH Global), there were already multiple JTEKT Machinery machines on the shop floor. Unfamiliar with the brand, Burgess quickly became a believer when he learned the age of the machines—impressed by their ability to hold extremely tight tolerances after running year after year on a rigorous production schedule. Their oldest machines are now 22 years old and still running production. That kind of performance was enough for Burgess to turn to JTEKT Machinery when a project opportunity required a massive increase in output to machine large quantities of missiles for Honeywell.
Arch Global Precision is known for their machining expertise in aerospace and defense—requiring machines that are suited to working with primarily aluminum and some steel. They made a practice of purchasing JTEKT Machinery machines specifically for high-demand projects because of their heavy-duty design—this project called for the addition of two new 6 pallet JTEKT Machinery FH500J Horizontal Machining Centers.
Industry-leading high-precision performance optimized for speed, rigidity and reliability. Featuring a 15,000 RPM spindle, tool-to-tool cycle time of 0.9 seconds and a rapid feedrate of 2,362 ipm (60m/min) the FH500J was the machine for the job. With the new additions, Arch Global’s Florida fleet of JTEKT Machinery machines consists of 15 horizontal machining centers, including multiple pallet automation systems.
INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY
Arch was able to streamline their process with the new additions.
Setup, changeover and labor were drastically reduced.
The machines run for 16 hours before they require attention.
INCREASED SPEED TO MARKET
Even with quantities ramping up rapidly, Arch was able to meet
customer demand as a single source keeping everything in house.
INCREASED REVENUES
Even outside of the Honeywell project, Burgess estimates that
Arch brings in $2 million a year off of just the two new FH500Js.
The Florida division of Arch Global’s Precision Components
represents a $21 million business unit, making that a 10% increase.
