LA 200 Construction Design

Minimum Footprint. Maximum Performance.

LA-200 Turning Centers are engineered with a 30-degree slant bed design that not only enhances overall rigidity but also reduces the machine’s footprint—making it ideal for shops where space efficiency is critical. This slanted construction improves chip evacuation, ensures better ergonomics for the operator, and provides the structural strength needed for stable, high-precision machining.

For ease of maintenance, both the spindle motor and the lubrication tank are strategically positioned at the front of the machine, allowing quick access for service and reducing downtime. In addition, the box guideway design on the X and Z axes delivers outstanding dynamic rigidity and superior vibration damping. This heavy-duty construction minimizes chatter and maintains high accuracy even during aggressive, heavy-cutting operations, extending tool life and ensuring consistent part quality.

The spindles on LA-200 Turning Centers are engineered and manufactured entirely in-house by Taiwan Takisawa, ensuring the highest levels of quality, reliability, and long-term performance. By controlling the entire spindle production process, Takisawa maintains strict tolerances and consistency, giving manufacturers confidence in both accuracy and durability.

LA 200 Turret

LA-200 Series Turret

The T12 Milling Turret on the LA-200 Turning Center is an in-house engineered design, thoroughly tested to deliver maximum rigidity, reliability, and machining accuracy. More than just a turning turret, the T12 enables true multi-tasking capability by supporting milling, drilling, and tapping in addition to conventional turning operations. This integration allows complex parts to be completed in a single cycle, minimizing setups, reducing handling time, and significantly increasing throughput for high-volume production.

To further enhance flexibility, the T12 turret can be configured based on customer-specific requirements. JTEKT Machinery provides a customized needs assessment to determine the optimal arrangement of tools, tool holders, and milling cutters, ensuring that each LA-200 is equipped to handle the precise demands of a given application.

The turret’s milling motor is powered directly by the spindle motor, delivering the torque and speed required for demanding cutting conditions, while the servo-driven tool indexing system provides fast, accurate tool changes with excellent repeatability. Together, these features ensure smooth operation, reduced cycle times, and reliable long-term performance. LA 200 Tailstock

LA-200 Series Tailstock

The LA-200 Turning Center is equipped with a high-rigidity tailstock body designed to provide strong, reliable support during machining of longer or heavier workpieces. The tailstock is fitted with a hydraulically driven quill, delivering consistent clamping force and dependable stability under load. Depending on the customer’s requirements, the tailstock can be configured with different drive types, ensuring the right balance of thrust capacity, precision, and cost efficiency for each application. For operations demanding greater holding power, a high-thrust or specialized quill design can also be customized to meet exact production needs.

To further improve productivity, an optional PIN-carried design is available, which allows for fast, servo-motor-driven positioning along the Z-axis. This automation-friendly approach enables quick and accurate adjustments, reducing setup and non-cutting time while shortening overall cycle times. The result is a tailstock system that not only increases machining accuracy and part concentricity, but also enhances throughput and efficiency across a wide range of turning applications.
