VTL Series

VTL Vertical Turning Centers are purpose-built for heavy-duty cutting applications, combining exceptional rigidity with smooth, reliable performance. Designed with a robust bed structure optimized for chip flow, the VTL Series ensures efficient removal of large volumes of material, maintaining machining stability and accuracy even under the toughest cutting conditions.

To maximize productivity, the VTL platform offers the ability to integrate right- and left-hand units, enabling flexible production line layouts while delivering greater output with minimal additional investment. For shops requiring expanded functionality, an optional milling capability allows for multi-process machining in a single setup, reducing part handling and improving cycle times.

The machine’s design also prioritizes efficient chip evacuation, with options for side or rear chip conveyors to accommodate different plant layouts and workflow requirements. VTL Structure

Heavy-Duty Performance, Flexible Productivity

VTL Series Vertical Turning Centers are engineered with a high-rigidity box-type column firmly anchored to the machine bed, creating a solid foundation that maximizes cutting performance. This robust structure is designed to resist both static and dynamic torsion, ensuring stability and accuracy even during aggressive, heavy-duty machining. A symmetrical machine layout further enhances thermal balance, greatly reducing thermal deformation and maintaining consistent precision over long production cycles.

To support large workpieces and demanding cuts, the machines feature a wide box guideway design, providing outstanding stability and long-term durability. The guideway surfaces are hardened to HRC56 or higher, delivering exceptional wear resistance and ensuring reliable performance throughout the machine’s service life.

For smoother operation, the mating sliding surfaces are coated with Turcite B, reducing friction and allowing slide assemblies to move with ease. This results in improved motion accuracy, reduced stick-slip, and extended machine longevity.


VTL Spindle

Spindle Design

The VTL Series is engineered with spindle designs tailored to meet the demands of different workpiece sizes and cutting conditions.

For the VTL-350, VTL-450, VTL-750A, VTL-760, and VTL-950 models, the spindles are built with a combination of double-row cylindrical roller bearings and angular contact thrust ball bearings. This configuration provides an ideal balance of high-speed capability, rigidity, and precision, allowing these machines to handle a wide range of machining applications with excellent stability and accuracy.

For the larger VTL-1100 model, the spindle incorporates a robust thrust bearing design, engineered to withstand significantly higher axial loads. This allows the machine to support heavier workpieces while maintaining machining accuracy, making it especially well-suited for industries that require the processing of oversized, heavy-duty components.

By offering different spindle configurations optimized for speed, rigidity, or load capacity, the VTL Series ensures that each machine can be matched precisely to the customer’s production requirements—delivering reliable performance across both high-speed precision machining and heavy-duty turning applications.


VTL Turret

Turret Design

VTL Series Vertical Turning Centers are equipped with a precision-engineered turret designed to deliver strength, stability, and accuracy during demanding machining operations. At the core of the turret is a large-diameter curvic coupling, which provides exceptional clamping rigidity and indexing accuracy. This robust coupling design ensures that the turret can withstand the heavy cutting forces typical of vertical turning while maintaining precise tool alignment and repeatability.

By combining rigid construction with high-precision coupling technology, the VTL turret system enhances machining stability, improves surface finishes, and supports reliable long-term operation. This makes it ideally suited for heavy-duty turning applications where both productivity and accuracy are critical.
